They give you nice advantages which feel good to play with. In proper fights you will roll up mid sail anyways and are the least impactful here, yes it still does give a small advantage with seeing more at times maybe lets you catch a merm or boarder which CAN be game changing, but not that often regardless.īut for everything else you do, sailing for hours, chasing, just keeping lookout while your crew is doing other stuff like going to islands to get supplies. I agree the win loss ratio will be negligible but having DA sails are MAJOR QOL improvements over not due to having the extra visibility. Though good communication is helpful but it is more exhausting to have to call out everything when the helm can just see it with the added visibility. Curling sails and not being extremely responsive on helm is blatant trolling when trying to chase another ship and these chases can last a while. Second I agree in a normal fight DA sails don't have much of an effect, where they really come to play is when chasing people which right now is close to 90% of my playtime. In basically every scenario, the sails won't make a difference to if you win or 2 issues with your post.įirst you are still not giving a reason not to run DA sails else than cosmetic. If you win a fight with the DA sails, you would have won the fight without the DA sails. If you lose a fight without the DA sails, you would have lost that fight with the DA sails. Different ship sizes, different crew numbers, locations, Meg's, Skellies, Storms, rocks, etc. As it is, on the Seas there are far too many variables already. Like, if you put two equal crews with equal supplies in a vacuum of a server and pit them against each other and switched out the sails (one with DA and one without, both with DA, both without) the numbers would be pretty comparable for win/loss ratio. If there's an advantage to the DA sails, it is situational and not having the sails any of the "benefits" are easily remedied by having good communication, slight curling of your sails, not having your sails pointed straight ahead, etc. I'm sure everyone who gets sunk in Sea of Thieves is very rational and says "yeah, they outplayed me" and doesn't immediately go to "Those sails are OP! It's not fair!" That's why the Sea of Thieves servers are filled with cheaters and Biden has been traveling door to door ripping guns out of people's hands. But beware! While there are some who would want to share a friendly grog, other crews will most likely engage in ship-to-ship combats and do everything in their powers to steal your prized possessions.Yeah, everything people complain about is true. There are plenty of fun and ridiculous encounters both at sea and ashore. You can choose between playing solo, alongside friends or matchmake with real players from all over the world. Oh, and come across the occasional Krakens here and there. You can scavenge sunken ships, fight against undead warriors and search for hidden treasures. The game itself offers a shared-world adventure that lets you delve into all aspects of the pirate experience. Under the publishing power of Microsoft Studios and with the UI middleware support of Coherent Labs, Sea of Thieves easily ranks as one of the most successful games of 2018. With development starting back in 2014, the project has evolved into a pirate adventure favorite to many. Sea of Thieves comes from Rare, the studio behind classic games like Donkey Kong Country and Perfect Dark Zero. For the pirates at heart - the ones who dream of setting sails in the open sea, who want to search for hidden treasures, and, of course, those that just want to shoot themselves out of a barrel.
